KSL Study Centre

The KSL Study Centre is a Finnish authoritative adult education institution. We train NGO’s and support the civil society by developing, educating and giving tools to NGO work. Our courses improve the well-being of individuals and communities.

We organise a variety of courses to both NGO’s and groups and individuals. We provide financial and pedagogical support to NGO’s to arrange their own courses and study circles. We also organise vocational further training in e.g. handicrafts, horse-assisted social pedagogical learning and coaching (the International Coaching Certification). One can also do Further Qualification in Handicrafts and Special Qualification in Handicrafts in Jyväskylä.

We produce publications and promote artistic activism. Our functions are based on critical pedagogy and communal learning.

The KSL Study Centre is maintained by KSL Civic Association for Adult Learning, a private non-governmental organisation established in 1964 as “an association of associations”. We have 17 member organisations and about 130 other partner organisations, e.g. trade unions, the Left Alliance (party) and various cultural, social and sports associations.

KSL’s activities are mainly funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.

Our offices are located in Helsinki, Oulu and Tampere.
